Here’s what you’d do:

Reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Director of Operational Accounting is responsible for directing and overseeing all accounting and financial reporting processes and controls for the Maintenance Services branches. The role has direct responsibility for the centralized operational accounting function which supports the field operations and finance teams. The Director of Operational Accounting must be a visible leader, be technically adept and demonstrate proficiency in current US GAAP reporting requirements, results-oriented, and focus on quality and progressive improvement. The role operates with clear and thorough communication, integrity, and ethics at all times, is comfortable in a dynamic environment and able to effectively adapt to changing business requirements and processes. 

You’d be responsible for:

  • Lead and direct the centralized team of accountants responsible for the Maintenance branch-level accounting and reporting roles to drive consistency in process, accuracy in execution, and enable an enhanced reporting and control environment.
  • Serve as a business partner at a strategic level that support the Operations management in decision making.
  • Review and approve monthly journal entries, Maintenance Services segment general ledger finalization, and key balance sheet account reconciliations when applicable.
  • Maintain and enforce a strong SOX compliant internal control environment across all Maintenance Services, to align with the enterprise.
  • Provide critical leadership in the form of oversight, training, development, and coaching for both direct reports (Accounting Managers) and full operational accounting team members.
  • Enforce and maintain comprehensive accounting policy to improve clarity and consistency.
  • Assist with M&A due diligence and integration efforts when applicable.
  • Perform process re-engineering to align with the enterprise and its initiatives, support innovation, and further enhance the quality of financial reporting. 

 

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • Four-year accounting degree, CPA required
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including management role in centralized accounting function, with heavy exposure to controllership responsibilities.
  • Exceptional knowledge of current US GAAP.
  • Excellent leadership, critical thinking, communication, and team building skills required.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills and sound judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, and effectively manage others through influence.
  • Self-starter, confident in his/her abilities, self-motivated and able to work effectively with little supervision.
  • Results-oriented leader who can drive change, improve efficiencies, and make a difference; an individual who has excellent listening skills, critical thinking, takes initiative, accepts accountability, and has a “can do” attitude with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to effectively problem solve, being creative and flexible in thought attitude, and agility to adapt to new situations in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment.
  • A strong value system and unquestioned integrity.

 

Work Environment:

  • This role operates in a hybrid office environment, requiring in-person three days per week.
